All advances in targeted research and development ensure our technology is fit for purpose and commercially relevant. Footfalls & Heartbeats is proud to work in collaboration with a number of carefully selected research and development partners.
Footfalls & Heartbeats is proud to have a long standing research relationship with UoN particularly in the area of physiological monitoring in healthcare applications. The expertise of Professor Stephen Morgan and his team has lead to several significant advances in the integration of bio-optical functionality into smart textiles. Two of these innovations have lead to new joint IP being filed which further enhances the commercial possibilities of Footfalls smart textiles.
Footfalls & Heartbeats works with Professor Jadranka Travas-Sejdic in the area of polymer actuators. Professor Travas-Sejdic is a leading scientist in the field of advanced polymer research and the Director of The Polymer Electronics Research Centre (PERC). A project led by Travas-Sejdic produced outstanding results for Footfalls in the area of textile actuation.
AgResearch is one of New Zealand's leading research organisations. AgResearch was involved in the development of the Footfalls & Heartbeats fabric from the outset. Dr. Stewart Collie has been a mentor to Footfalls founder Simon McMaster for the last ten years and he brings many years’ research and commercial experience in the field of technical textiles. Dr. Collie currently assists and advises Footfalls in the field of textile and fibre structures to enhance the IP being developed within the organisation.
